I started Divas On Vacation after a girlfriend's getaway.  At first, I thought we would just get together once a year to celebrate our birthdays.  As I thought more about it, I realized that our getaways are about more than just the celebration. 

For us, it's a release, a way to getaway from the mundane day-to-day routine and the stress that exist in our lives. We discuss our issues (usually over a Divatini or a glass of wine, and ALWAYS over great food!) and we learn from one another and we grow. 
More importantly, we rebuild our bond and solidify our sisterhood as we listen and  understand each other like only another woman can.  We embrace our friendship, form new friendships and rebuild our strength to forge ahead.  It was this that I wanted to capture. 

To do this, I started Diva Movement for our growth and support and Divas On Vacation to satisfy our need to getaway. I chose Divas on Vacation because that's how I want to be treated on my vacations and Diva Movement because of all the positive things DIVA stands for:

Symbols to me that describe a Diva are butterflies and roses. A butterfly because sometimes you have to push your way out of your situation or push yourself out of your own way (your cocoon) to become the wonderful unique person you are destined to be.  Roses are a symbol to me because they are graceful, fragile and strong at the same time, they keep coming back year after year more beautiful than they were, stronger than the last time and though you can hold them, handle them in the wrong way and you'll feel the cut of their thorns. 

Diva, continue to push, continue to grow. We're all in it together, it doesn't matter who finishes first, so let's lock our arms and move towards the finish line!  We're bound to get tired at some point, but that's okay, when we do, we'll just take a vacation!
